The science of flourishing is evolving rapidly. New Directions in Flourishing brings you to the frontier.
Over two days, Sue Langley and Professor Michael Steger will share the research, ideas and questions that excite them most right now. This is not a fixed curriculum. It is a programme shaped by genuine curiosity, grounded in science and designed to be experienced, not just absorbed.
You will leave with fresh perspectives, practical tools and a deeper understanding of what flourishing looks like for yourself and the people you work with.
Rediscover what captivates you when the pressure to perform falls away.
Experience deeper, more embodied ways of connecting to what matters.
Explore what flourishing looks like at a systems level, beyond individual resilience.
An honest conversation about what artificial intelligence means for us and our values.
For curious minds who care about the science
Practitioners, coaches, consultants, psychologists, leaders and anyone with a genuine interest in the science of flourishing. Whether you attended the first New Directions in Flourishing or this is your first time in the room, you are welcome here.
This programme is designed for people who value depth, real conversation and the opportunity to learn alongside others who care about making a difference.
“What I always find striking about attending a Sue Langley event is how many familiar faces I see there. Not because we are in the same fields or know each other socially, but because there are so many people who will jump at every available opportunity to engage with Sue’s knowledge and positivity.”
“Learning with Sue transformed my life. This content sparks curiosity and conversations, builds and strengthens relationships, helps you understand more about yourself and others. Sue is the mentor and teacher you did not know you needed.”
“Sue’s willingness to be her own scientific experiment adds a reality to her work that you cannot easily find elsewhere. She does not put herself up as the prime example but as a work in progress like we all are. That makes the learning not only enjoyable but real.”

Sue Langley is a positive psychology expert, keynote speaker and creator of the world’s first government-recognised Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing. With a Master’s in the Neuroscience of Leadership, Sue’s gift is translating complex brain science into practical tools that leaders and practitioners use the same day. She has inspired thousands of executives across six continents to build cultures where people thrive.

Michael Steger is a Professor of Applied Social and Health Psychology and Director of the Center for Meaning and Purpose at Colorado State University. His research focuses on meaning in life, wellbeing, culture and what it takes to live well. Mike is known for making deep science feel personal, and for bringing warmth, genuine curiosity and humour to everything he facilitates. His work has shaped how researchers and practitioners around the world think about purpose, meaning and human flourishing.

It is a genuinely beautiful setting, unhurried and away from the noise, which makes it the right environment for the kind of thinking and conversation this programme is designed to create.

Yes, it is possible to use the programme participation for professional development. Details of any CPD recognition will be confirmed closer to the programme date. If accreditation is important to your decision, please reach out and we will update you as soon as this is confirmed.
Places are limited to 50 participants. This is a deliberate choice. A smaller group creates the conditions for real conversation, genuine connection and a more personalised experience with Sue and Mike.
Each iteration of New Directions in Flourishing reflects what Sue and Mike are exploring right now. The four directions for 2026 are new, the science is current, and the conversation will go wherever the group takes it. If you attended previously, you will find this a natural and worthwhile next step.
