We live in an era where the science of flourishing is evolving rapidly.
New Directions in Flourishing is a two-day programme where Sue Langley and Professor Michael Steger share the research, ideas and questions they find most compelling right now.
This programme is different by design. Rather than a fixed curriculum, it is shaped by what Sue and Mike are actively exploring as November approaches. You will be part of a learning experience that is current, grounded in science and designed to be experienced, not just learned.
Some of the directions Sue and Mike are exploring right now include:
・The science of wonder and curiosity, and what happens when we allow ourselves to be captivated without needing to rationalise it
・Deeper, more embodied ways of experiencing meaning in everyday life
・Regenerative wellbeing, and what flourishing looks like when we think beyond the individual
・What AI means for our humanity, and what we might choose to protect
These directions will continue to evolve. As new research emerges and new conversations spark new thinking, the programme will reflect that. What stays constant is this: you will be learning directly from two people who are at the forefront of the science, the content will be grounded in evidence, and you will leave with fresh perspectives and practical tools you can apply immediately.
Practitioners, coaches, consultants, psychologists, leaders and anyone with a genuine interest in the science of flourishing. Whether you attended the first New Directions in Flourishing or this is your first time, you are welcome. The programme is designed for people who value depth, real conversation and learning alongside others who care about making a difference.
New Directions in Flourishing is a two-day, in-person programme held at Byron Bay Golf Club. The programme is highly experiential. Expect a blend of new research, hands-on activities, group conversation and time for reflection.
Sue and Mike will co-facilitate across both days. Sessions run in 90-minute to two-hour blocks with morning tea, lunch and afternoon breaks built in. The flow is intentionally fluid. Sue and Mike design their sessions to complement and build on one another, and are happy to adapt in the moment based on what the group needs.
